The City of Boston is divided up into nine districts. Doug Bennett is running to represent District 3 which makes up the far South East Quadrant of Boston beginning from Columbia Ave and continuing all along Dorchester Avenue south until the Adams Street intersection including Morrissey Boulevard and part of Washington Street.
The district is very diverse from the large Irish populations in Adams Village through Lower Mills, the large Vietnamese population both surrounding and within the Fields Corner region and the large Cape Verdean population in the Northwest part of the district around Saint Peter's Church. District 3 in Boston is amongst the most diverse areas of the city.
District 3 is composed of:
Ward 1, Precinct 15
Ward 13, Precincts 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10;
Ward 15, Precincts 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9;
All of Ward 16 (Precincts 1-12);
and
Ward 17, Precincts 4, 12, 13, and 14.
